Austerely beautiful surrounded by Glarus Alps - it is tough to believe that the graceful town of Glarus was almost destroyed by a fire and the one you are visiting has been built in the 19th century.
To wander around Glarus you may opt for trails just west of Glarus - Klöntal an almost untouched valley - or Klöntaler See a glimmering green-blue lake backed by the Glärnisch mountains - or go in search of majestic waterfalls that open up clefts in the Glärnisch massif.
How to reach Glarus by train?
It takes about 80 minutes to travel from Zurich Hb to Glarus by train, and there are many trains available through the day.
