Chapel of our Lady Monte in Goa, India
Located in Velha Goa the chapel of Our Lady of the Mount has tremendous historical significance and is a secluded hidden gem. The chapel of Our Lady of the Mount was consecrated in 1519 commemorating the victory of Afonso de Albuquerque over Sultan Adil Shah and this was the site of the battle between the armies.
Try and time your visit near the sunset (weekdays the chapel is open till 7pm) as the views are spectacular atop the Monte near the Church of St. Cajetan, and overlooks the expanse of the Mandovi river and the islands of Devar and Chorao.
