Large sculptural panels are carved on the walls of hindu Cave 15 at Ellora specifically illustrating the ten avatars of Vishnu hence Cave 15 is also known as the Dashavatar Cave.

Dashavatar Cave also has scenes narrating popular Shiva mythological tales - you will find sculptures of Kalyanasundara Murti or the wedding of Shiva and Parvati, Andhakasuravadha, Śiva and Parvati playing chausar, and Ravana shaking Kailasa; 

This finest relief of Cave 15 is depicting Vishnu’s Narasimha avatar where Vishnu in a ‘Nara-Simha’ form, emerges from a pillar to tear open and kill Hiranyakashipu.
