Jina Dharmanatha, Hutheesing Jain Temple, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India
Hutheesing Temple is a Jain temple with its principal deity being Jina Dharmanatha the fifteenth Tirthankar, Sheth Hutheesing Kesri a wealthy trader from Ahmedabad started building this temple and upon his death it was completed by his wife Harkunvar Shethani in 1847. Hutheesing Jain Temple is at distance of about 7 km km from Ahmedabad Airport.
The temple's craftsman built it in troubled times - there was a famine in gujarat then and about 100+ craftsman earned a living whilst carving the exquisite jharokhas, chhajas and its jaalis.
Hutheesing Temple also has a six storey tall 'Manastambha'- which should be interpreted as pillar of respect rather than pride - it has enshrined footsteps and idol of Jina Mahavir in commemoration of two and a half millennium of his birth anniversary.
