The spectacular Pangong Tso is open only from May to September. Also referred to as Pangong Lake or a high grassland lake - is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). Pangong Tso is 134 km long and extends from India to China. It takes 5-6 hours from Leh to reach Pangong Tso to cover 225 km driving via a dramatic mountain road which may get rough and crosses the villages of Shey and Sakti and traverses the Chang La, where army sentries and a small teahouse are waiting to greet us.
